Plaza Douglas

The project is based on the premise of developing its entire program around the Ortega Douglas Castle, identifying it as the most representative architectural object of the property located on Vazquéz del Mercado Street. Since the main intention is to revitalize through this binding intervention of the "past" with the "contemporary", the aim is to attract local citizens to enjoy a new urban meeting point, generating an important synergy between the commercial-social complex and the Ortega Douglas Castle through a vibrant public space.

The intervention will provide equipment for both everyday use by local residents and occasional use by the general public. The ultimate intention of this project is to open an extraordinary territory, abandoned for decades, to public enjoyment and the reinforcement of the collective memory of the place.

The experience of this new "Urban Plaza" will produce a sense of belonging, enjoyment, and city vitality in those who visit it. Through the landscape design and lighting of the public space, a picturesque atmosphere will be created that surrounds the castle and integrates it with the plaza and other architectural spaces.

The project consists of two volumes that surround the castle: commercial premises and a cinema-bar terrace that accompany the path, and an event hall with a strong visual connection to the castle.
